First year Lino Prints. Mechanical

This is my strongest print as the colours really work well together and show some strong colour thought. The detail  also showed up really well showing that the right amount of ink was used and if any more had been added then it would have bubbled and the ink would have spread. But something else that worked well in this print is the negative space in areas but not to much of it having the negative space there brings some areas out but also cools some areas down and stops the print from being to busy and to much.

i am really not to sure about the lack of detail in some of the pieces and think that more layers using different ink colours added onto different detail making more layers would improve these piece which i think is really needed to make these prints stronger and more exciting.
This is a mechanical inspired piece of lino which was created  using lino cutters. These at times where tough to us  to create detail as they are quit hard  to control.

To create this print i used collograph paper and  place black inc on  the lino and pressed firmly until  the print had been  printed. This print didn't have enough ink on so created different tones in this piece.

I like this piece that was created with coloured newsprint and black ink  as the colours show through between the lines from the patterns adds a bit more contrast between the lines.

This strong piece was created with 2 layers a blue inked bottom and the top a black layer.
The colours work well together, by using the black it adds a brightness to the blue even though the blue is a dark colour.

This piece was before the detail had been added to the lino piece as i was experimenting with the  busyness of the print to see if the print looked stronger with lots of detail our without. i would say that this piece isn't that strong to me as the colour is a bit dull making the whole print look a bit boring. to improve this piece i cold add the detailed print over the top with a brighter colour maybe a green.

This is another print without detail this print is a week print as there is a lack of ink on the print and  is also another dull one not showing much thought within the print.

Where this print has a lack of ink on has added a different effect to this print as in some areas it makes this print look like it has shadings and tones in areas. it also looks textured in some parts which has made this print different from the rest and would be a good thing to bare in mind for future prints.

This print isn't very vibrant as it needed more ink but the good thing that has come from the lack of ink is the  markings that have come from it the little scratch markings. it also looks textured in places making you want to touch it. maybe adding a coloured layer on top would improve this piece but not to strong as the markings might fade into the background to much.

this print is quit plan and simple but with the orange pastel colour being so little and  calm it works well . This piece would probably be improved with more detail in a different pastel shade or a bright colour.

Overall i think this is a strong collection for my first prints.
